Small perturbations of convective singular eigenvalue problems
The paper studies the nonlinear singular eigenvalue problem\N\[\N-\operatorname{div}a(Du)=\lambda f(z,u,Du)\quad\text{in }\Omega, \quad u|_{\partial\Omega}=0,\quad u>0,\N\]\Nwhere the differential operator has a general Uhlenbeck-Lieberman structure and the reaction term is singular at the origin and depends on the gradient. Since the gradient dependence makes the problem nonvariational, the authors employ a topological approach based on the Leray-Schauder alternative principle. By combining suitable singular auxiliary problems, truncation arguments, nonlinear regularity theory, and compactness properties of an associated solution map, they prove the existence of positive smooth solutions.
