Abstract: Let $X$ be a Banach space with a separable dual $X^{\ast }$. Let $YsubsetX$ be a closed subspace, and $f:YomathbbR$ a $C^1$-smooth function. Then we show there is a $C^1$ extension of $f$ to $X$.
