Zur Herleitung des Integrales (\(p\) u. \(q\) positiv): \[ U_n=\int_0^{\frac12\pi}\frac{dx}{(p+q\text{\,tg}^2x)^n}, \] wo \(n\) eine positive ganze Zahl ist, wird zuerst die Reductionsformel: \[ U_n=-\frac1{n-1}\;\frac d{dp}\;(U_{n-1})=\frac1{(n-1)(n-2)}\;\frac{d^2}{dp^2}\;(U_{n-2})=\cdots \] gegeben und \(U_1\) in der Gestalt entwickelt: \[ U_1=\frac\pi{2\sqrt q}\left(\frac1{\sqrt p}-\frac1{\sqrt p+\sqrt q}\right). \] Dasselbe Verfahren ist auch anwendbar, wenn im Zähler des Integranden noch \(\text{tg}^{2m}x\) steht. Darauf wird nach einer zweiten Methode für \(\sqrt q\cdot \text{tg\,}x\) substituirt.
