Some exceptional 2-adic buildings
GABs (Geometrien vom Typ M) sind residuell zusammenhängende Tits Geometrien, deren Rang-2-Residuen verallgemeinerte n-Ecke sind. Besonders interessant sind GABs, deren Automorphismengruppe die maximalen Fahnen transitiv permutiert. Nach dem Tits'schen Überlagerungssatz werden GABs im allgemeinen von Gebäuden überlagert. Der Autor geht nun zum ersten Mal daran, für einige endliche Beispiele mit nichtsphärischem Diagram [\textit{W. M. Kantor}, Eur. J. Comb. 2, 239-247 (1981; Zbl 0514.51006), \textit{M. Aschbacher, S. D. Smith}, Commun. Algebra 11, 1679- 1684 (1983; Zbl 0518.51007)] die überlagernden Gebäude explizit zu bestimmen. Es handelt sich hierbei um Beispiele mit Diagrammen \(\begin{matrix} \circ &&&& \circ \\ & \diagdown && \diagup \\ && \circ \\ & \diagup && \diagdown \\ \circ &&&& \bigcirc \end{matrix}\), \(\begin{matrix} &&&& \circ \\ &&& \diagup \\ \circ & = & \circ \\ &&& \diagdown \\ &&&& \circ \end{matrix}\), \(\begin{matrix} \circ & = & \circ & = & \circ \end{matrix}\) und \(\begin{matrix} \circ & - & \circ & \equiv & \circ \end{matrix}\) und der Autor kann die Überlagerungen als die affinen Gebäude von \(\Omega_ 8({\mathbb{Q}}_ 2,f_ 8)\), \(\Omega_ 7({\mathbb{Q}}_ 8,f_ 7)\), \(\Omega_ 6({\mathbb{Q}}_ 2,f_ 6)\) und \(G_ 2({\mathbb{Q}}_ 2)\) identifizieren, wo \(f_ n=\sum^{n}_{i=1}x^ 2_ i.\) Der Autor konstruiert eine Untergruppe \(G_ 8\) von \(\Omega_ 8({\mathbb{Q}}_ 2,f_ 8)\), die kammern-transitiv auf dem affinen Gebäude \(\Delta_ 8\) von \(\Omega_ 8({\mathbb{Q}}_ 2,f_ 8)\) operiert, und zeigt \(G_ 8=\Omega_ 8({\mathbb{Z}}[],f_ 8)\). Reduktion der Matrizeneinträge modulo ungerader Primzahlen p projiziert die zugehörige Gruppengeometrie in \(\Omega_ 8({\mathbb{Z}}[],f_ 8)\) auf endliche GABs mit Diagram \(\begin{matrix} \circ &&&& \circ \\ & \diagdown && \diagup \\ && \circ \\ & \diagup && \diagdown \\ \circ &&&& \circ \end{matrix}\) und Gruppe \(\Omega^+_ 8(p).\) Die anderen Fälle werden ähnlich behandelt. Bemerkenswert ist ferner die Tatsache, daß \(\Omega_ n({\mathbb{Q}}_ 2,f_ n)\) für \(n=6,7,8\) und \(G_ 2({\mathbb{Q}}_ 2)\) überhaupt eine diskrete, auf dem affinen Gebäude kammerntransitiv operierende Untergruppe besitzen.
