Review text

The author formulates three groups of new problems concerning certain relatively free and free profinite semigroups. The problems deal with the first-order theories of free profinite semigroups (Problems 1.1, 1.2), the structure of free Burnside semigroups with commuting idempotents and of free Burnside inverse semigroups (Problems 2.1-2.4), and the representation of finitely generated free bands by order preserving transformations of a finite chain (Problems 3.1-3.3). Each of them is provided with detailed motivation. A couple of yet unpublished related results and outlines of their proofs are also included.
