This paper deals with the investigation of Chebyshev polynomials (of the first and of the second kind) in two variables. Following the method of T. Koornwinder the polynomials are considered as polynomials of a complex variable \(z\) and its conjugate \(\overline{z}\). Uniform and weighted estimates over the region of orthogonality, asymptotics outside of this region, the location of zeros and differential relations between the two kinds of Chebyshev polynomials are established.
