Spandrelized Tilings
From MaRDI portal
A new method for obtaining tilings with non-polygonal tiles is considered. This method is based on placing tangent disks at vertices of some uniform tiling by regular polygons and adding to disks some interstitial areas. Many aesthetically pleasing examples of tilings in the Euclidean plane, the sphere and the hyperbolic plane are given.
