The authors consider the algebra of the two-dimensional Ising model on a half lattice with nearest neighbour interaction and investigate the state which gives rise to the thermodynamic limit of the Gibbs ensemble. They show that an operator which performs the essential functions of the renormalised transform matrix has a quasi-particle structure.
