The author describes a modified Kostant-Souriau geometric quantization procedure in a case of purely complex polarization. A triplet \(<M^ r,\omega,M>\) is considered, where \(M\) is a complex manifold, \(M^ r\) is \(M\) as a real smooth manifold, \(\omega\) is a differential two-form which is complex with respect to \(M\) and real with respect to \(M^ r.\) The author introduces the following conditions: 1) The pair \(<M,\omega >\) is a Kähler manifold. 2) Let \(q=[\omega]-C_ 1(M)\) where \(C_ 1(M)\) means the first Chern class of \(M\). Then \(q\in H^ 2(M,{\mathbb{Z}})\). 3) \(q(a)\geq 0\) for any positive oriented two-cycle a of \(M\). A complex line bundle \(Q\) such that the class \(C(Q)\) is equal to \(q\) will be called the quantum bundle. A suitable Hermitian structure on \(Q\) is introduced. Then the Hilbert space of holomorphic sections of \(Q\) is the space of quantum states. The manifold \(M\) is required to be compact. The author says that a complex manifold \(M\) admits geometric quantization if there exists a differential two-form \(\omega\) such that the triplet \(<M^ r,\omega,M>\) satisfies conditions 1)-3) above. Theorem. A compact complex manifold \(M\) admits geometric quantization iff there exists a Hodge structure on \(M\). The cases of \({\mathbb{C}}\)-homogeneous manifolds and of manifolds covered by open bounded domains are studied in details.
