This work investigates the influence of flanges on the symmetrical buckling pressure of geometrically nonlinear spherical caps. The numerical solution of this problem is based on the same shooting method used in the author's earlier paper on Stability loss phenomena in geometrically nonlinear spherical caps and multiparametrical loading [Proc. 25th Israel Ann. Conf. Aviation and Astronautics, pp. 89 ff. (1983)], where we introduced multiparametrical loading for some types of support. Here we present the numerical results of only two kinds of support: movable and immovable clamped edges. The loading here is uniform pressure P without active edge loads. For these two simple but important cases attention is focused on the effect of the additional flanges of various width on symmetrical buckling.
