    We consider Fourier multipliers \(m\circ \rho\), where m is defined in (0,\(\infty)\) and is smooth and positive in \({\mathbb{R}}^ n\setminus \{0\}\) and satisfies \(\rho (A_ tx)=t_{\rho}(x)\) for a general dilation group \((A_ t)_{t>0}\). Then we have the inequality \(\sup _{t>0}\| \phi m(t\cdot)\| _{B^{p'}_{\alpha p}}\leq \| m\circ \rho \| _{M_ p},\) provided \(1\leq p\leq 2\), \(\alpha =(n-1)(1/p-1/2).\) Here \(\phi\) is a smooth bump-function supported in (1,2) and \(B^{p'}_{\alpha p}\) is a Besov-space on \({\mathbb{R}}\). A similar inequality holds for quasiradial \(M^ q_ p\)-multipliers. The results extend and improve those of \textit{G. Gasper} and \textit{W. Trebels} [Indiana Univ. Math. J. 31, 403-414 (1982; Zbl 0494.44003)] they are best possible with respect to the required smoothness.
