Real, periodic solutions of the Liouville equations \(\nabla^ 2\phi =(\lambda^ 2/8)e^{-\phi}\) that describe equilibria in two dimensional MHD and incompressible fluids are obtained in the ''\(\mu\)-representation''. We approach this problem by taking a singular limit of the sinh-Poisson equation previously solved by \textit{A. C. Ting, H. H. Chen} and \textit{Y. C. Lee} [Phys. Rev. Lett. 53, 1348 ff. (1984)]. A unique and interesting property of the present system is the existence of internal degrees of freedom which appear as ''ghost'' terms in the evolution equations of the external degrees of freedom.
