At the beginning of the 18th century, Pierre Jartoux introduced into China the expansion of three power series connected with the sine function, but did not provide the proof. Following this, the Chinese mathematician, Ming Antu, wrote in his book, \textit{Ge Yuan Mi Lü Jie Fa}, the statement and proof of the three formulae and added six other formulae in power series. Ming Antu's proof was different from that developed in the West; it was based on his background of Chinese mathematics. The author of this paper uses this example to discuss an aspect of the assimilation of Western mathematical knowledge in Chinese mathematical works of the 18th century.
