The problem of propagation of Rayleigh waves in a semi-infinite elastic medium having a vertical nonhomogeneity has been considered following \textit{A. I. Beltzer} [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 70, 1357-1361 (1981; Zbl 0466.73019)]. The variances of the displacements and velocities for a stationary white noise at a point on the boundary has been numerically evaluated.
