The authors determine conditions on the parameters \(a_j>0\) \((j= 1,2,3)\) and \(b_j> 0\) \((j= 1,2)\) so that the function \[ z{_3F_2}(a_1, a_2,a_3; b_1,b_2; z) \] is univalent in the open unit disk \(U\), \({_3F_2}\) being the Clausenian hypergeometric function. Two seemingly relevant earlier works, which are not referred to in the paper under review, include a paper by \textit{S. Owa} and the reviewer [Can. J. Math. 39, No. 5, 1057-1077 (1987; Zbl 0611.33007)] which systematically presented various criteria for the univalence, starlikeness, and convexity of the function \[ z{_pF_q}(a_1,\dots, a_p; b_1,\dots, b_q; z)\quad (p\leq q+ 1) \] involving the generalized hypergeometric function with \(p\) numerator and \(q\) denominator parameters, and a paper by \textit{M. Saigo} and the reviewer [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 110, No. 1, 71-76 (1990; Zbl 0706.33004)] in which Ramanujan's asymptotic formula for \({_3F_2}\) (referred to in the paper under review) was extended by finding the asymptotic behaviour of the generalized hypergeometric function \({_pF_q}(x)\) \((p= q+1)\) when \(x\to 1\) in the zero-balanced case.
