The author proves that the normalized product of a convergent sequence of matrices converging to \(A\) sends all vectors but those belonging to some set of measure zero into the subspace of generalized eigenvectors of \(A\) with eigenvalues of maximal absolute value. The result is proved more generally for bounded operators in a Banach space considering also the case of a weak spectral gap. Some more details of the process are given.
