Let \((M^{4n},g)\) be a quaternion Kähler manifold and let \(\pi: Z\to M\) be the 2-sphere bundle (the twistor space) where \(Z=F/\text{Sp}(n)U(1)\) (\(F\) is the reduced frame bundle on \(M\) corresponding to the considered quaternionic structure). Then \(Z\) is a complex contact manifold with an antiholomorphic involution \(\sigma: Z\to Z\). The author [Math. Ann. 284, No. 3, 353-371 (1989; Zbl 0674.53036)], \textit{H. Pedersen} and \textit{Y. S. Poon} [Differential geometry, Proc. 6th Int. Colloq., Santiago de Compostela/Spain 1988, Cursos Congr. Univ. Santiago de Compostela 61, 207-218 (1989; Zbl 0691.53053)], \textit{T. N. Bailey} and \textit{M. G. Eastwood} [Forum Math. 3, No. 1, 61-103 (1991; Zbl 0728.53005)], have shown that the correspondence quaternionic Kähler manifold \(\to\) twistor space is invertible. In this paper the author uses this invertibility to construct an infinite-dimensional space of deformations of the hyperbolic projective space \(\mathbb{H}{\mathcal H}_ n=\text{Sp}(n,1)/\text{Sp}(n).S(1)\) through quaternionic-Kähler metrics. The twistor space \(Z\) of \(\mathbb{H}{\mathcal H}_ n\) is realized as an open set in the complex projective space \(\mathbb{C} P_{2n+1}\). Then, doing some deformations on an open neighbourhood \(\widetilde Z\) of the closure of \(Z\) and using some complex contact transformations, the author is able to produce a complete quaternionic Kähler manifold as one connected component of the \(\sigma\)-invariant rational curves transverse to the contact distribution.
