    The authors are concerned with viscosity solutions of \((*)\) \(-\Delta u+H(x,u,\text{grad} u)=f\) on \(\mathbb{R}^ N\), where \(f\in C(\mathbb{R}^ N)\) and \(H\in C(\mathbb{R}^ N\times\overline R_ +\times\mathbb{R}^ N)\). Using appropriate interior estimates and Perron's method they obtain the following existence and uniqueness result: Assume that \(| H(x,r,\nu(x-y))-H(y,r,\nu(x-y))|\leq\omega(\nu| x-y|^ 2+| x-y|)\) for all \(x,y\in\mathbb{R}^ N\), \(r\in\overline R_ +\), \(\nu\in\mathbb{R}_ +\) and some nondecreasing function \(\omega:\mathbb{R}_ +\to\mathbb{R}_ +\) with \(\omega(0^ +)=0\), that \(H(x,r,0)- H(x,0,0)\geq\lambda r^ m\) for all \(x\in\mathbb{R}^ N\), \(r\in\overline\mathbb{R}_ +\) and some \(\lambda>0\) and \(m>1\), and that there exists a modulus of continuity \(\rho\) with \(| H(x,r,p)- H(x,r,q)|\leq\rho(| p-q|)\) for all \(p,q\in\mathbb{R}^ N\). Then, if \(H(\cdot,0,0)\leq f\), \((*)\) has a unique solution. Also the moduli of continuity of \(u\) and \(f\) are shown to be related to each other.
