Stationary non-radial flow of an Oldroyd-B fluid is studied in an infinite region between two intersecting planes. After writing the equations in cylindrical coordinates, an expansion in inverse powers of the radial coordinate is proposed, and the resulting nonlinear differential equations for the angular coefficient functions are derived for terms up to order four. These are solved numerically for aperture angles of \(\pi/3\) and \(3\pi/2\), for Reynolds numbers up to \(10^ 3\) and for non-zero retardation times. Some new features for medium Reynolds numbers are inferred from the far-field stream function behavior, for which the method is considered to be more reliable. The drawbacks of the approach (formal expansion, no convergence information, assumed singular flow behavior at the intersection of the two planes) are duly pointed out by the authors.
