The authors consider a semi-infinite classical (Kirchhoff) strip plate, clamped at one end and subject to torsion, pure bending and flexure (with transverse load), respectively, at infinity. They are interested in determining the bending moment and (effective) shear force along the clamped edge, since the corresponding exact solutions are missing in the literature. It is shown that oscillating singularities which occur in three-dimensional elasticity at the end of clamping, exist also in the clamped strip plate. The method of solution is an extension and improvement of the method of projection given by \textit{R. D. Gregory} and \textit{I. Gladwell} [J. Elasticity 12, 317-343 (1982; Zbl 0538.73065)], which is based on a reciprocity formula interpreted as orthogonality (inner product) relation. Numerical procedures are worked out, and finite length plates with clamped ends are analyzed approximately by ``superposition'' of two semi-infinite plate strips.
