[For Vol. 9 see Zbl 0868.00009.] This is the tenth volume issued at IMA under the direction of Avner Friedman. As in the preceding volumes, he collected many interesting mathematical problems arising in industry. Here is the table of contents: Preface; (1) Simulation and modeling of updrain TMOS devices; (2) Strategic risk management using stochastic programming; (3) Discrete fluids using lattice gas methods; (4) Computer-aided design of developable surfaces; (5) Modeling techniques for computation of coating flows; (6) Measuring coalescence rates; (7) The light field for diffusely scattering media; (8) The changing nature of network traffic analysis and modeling; (9) Stress induced warpage in micro-accelerometers; (10) Exchange energy representations in computational micromagnetics; (11) Nonlinear effects in electrorheological fluids; (12) Modeling of building cooling system; (13) Mass transport and adsorption in particle-loaded beds; (14) Growth instability in metal electrodeposition; (15) Simulation of production metal cutting process; (16) Application of inverse scattering to oil field evaluation problems; (17) Solutions to problems from previous parts; Index. We propose the reader the following classification of presentations: Microtechnology (1); Management (2); Fluid motion (3), (11), (12), (13); Surface geometry (4); Chemical composition (5), (6); Scattering (7), (16); Traffic (8); Microdevices (9), (10), (14); Cutting process (15). As in the preceding volumes, the variety of problems and the large presence of fluid dynamics should be emphasized. Again, we stress that the present volume can provide a nice source of inspiration for applied mathematicians.
