The author studies discrete nets, i.e., mappings \(f: \mathbb Z \to {\mathbb H}P^1 := \{ v{\mathbb H} \mid v\in {\mathbb H}^2\setminus \{ 0\}\}\) for which any four points \(f_{m,n}\), \(f_{m+1,n}\), \(f_{m,n+1}\), and \(f_{m+1,n+1}\) are different (equivalently, all cross ratios \([f_{m,n},f_{m+1,n},f_{m,n+1},f_{m+1,n+1}]\neq 0, 1,\infty\)). A discrete net \(f: \mathbb Z \to {\mathbb H}P^1\) is called isothermic if all cross ratios \([f_{m,n},f_{m+1,n},f_{m,n+1},f_{m+1,n+1}]=a_m/b_n\) where the functions \(a,b: \mathbb Z \to \mathbb R\) depend on \(m\), respectively \(n\), only. The quaternionic calculus is used to define the Christoffel, Darboux, Goursat, and spectral transformations for discrete isothermic nets which are similar to classical transformations known in the theory of smooth isothermic surfaces. The Darboux and spectral transformations are used to define discrete analogs for surfaces of constant mean curvature one in the hyperbolic space and to obtain a discrete version of Bryant's Weierstrass type representation.
