The authors consider the boundary value problem on a line segment for the differential equation \[ \frac{d^{n}y}{dx^{n}}+P_{1}(x,\lambda)\frac{d^{n-1}y}{dx^{n-1}}+ P_{2}(x,\lambda)\frac{d^{n-2}y}{dx^{n-2}}+\cdots + P_{n}(x,\lambda)y=0 \tag{1} \] with the boundary conditions \[ u_{i}(y)=\sum^{n-1}_{j=0} [a_{ij}(\lambda)y^{(i)}(0)+b_{ij}(\lambda)y^{(j)}(1)]=0,\quad i=1,2,\dots n. \tag{2} \] Taking into account, that equation (1) and the boundary conditions (2) are polynomials in the spectral parameter \(\lambda \in \mathbb{C}\) the regularized traces of the boundary value problem in the case when the characteristic polynomial has multiple roots are studied.
