The author considers Cauchy problems of the type \[ \begin{aligned} \partial u/\partial t &= q^w_t(x,D_x)u(t),\qquad t\geq 0,\\ u(0) &= u_0,\end{aligned} \] where \(q^w_t(x,D_x)\) is the Weyl quantization of a quadratic form \(q_t(x,\eta)\) with coefficients depending continuously on the time variable. In general, \(q_t(x,\eta)\) is assumed to take values in the complex domain, with \(\text{Re\,}q_t\leq 0\), so that heat equation and Schrödinger equations, in particular free particle and harmonic oscillator, are included in the study. Results of existence and regularity and explicit representation of solutions in terms of Fourier integral operators are given, generalizing known results for the autonomous case, cf. \textit{L. Hörmander} [Math. Z. 219, No. 3, 413--449 (1995; Zbl 0829.35150)] and for the selfadjoint Schrödinger case, cf. \textit{M. Combescure} and \textit{D. Robert} [Coherent states and applications in mathematical physics. Berlin: Springer (2012; Zbl 1243.81004)]. An application is given to the propagation of the Gabor wave front set, cf. \textit{L. Rodino} and \textit{P. Wahlberg} [Monatsh. Math. 173, No. 4, 625--655 (2014; Zbl 1366.42030)].
