Let \(\beta\in (0,1)\) and let \(D\) be a smooth divisor in a compact complex manifold \(X\). The purpose of this note is to show that in any positive cohomology class on \(X\) there is a Kähler metric with cone angle \(2\pi \beta\) along \(D\), and with bounded Ricci curvature. Let \(\omega\) be a \(\mathcal C^{\alpha}\)-Kähler metric on \(X\) with cone angle \(2\pi\beta\) along \(D\), i.e., it is given by a smooth Kähler metric \(g\) on the complement of \(D\) such that, for every \(p\in D\), there exist complex coordinates \(z_1,\dots,z_n\) centered at \(p\) in which \(D=\{z_1=0\}\). Then there exist a local Kähler potential for \(g\), which belongs to \(\mathcal C^{2,\alpha}\), and a constant \(C>0\) such that \[ \frac 1C\left(\beta^2|z_1|^{2\beta-2}|dz_1|^2+\sum_{j=2}^{n}|dz_j|^2\right)\leq g\leq C\left(\beta^2|z_1|^{2\beta-2}|dz_1|^2+\sum_{j=2}^{n}|dz_j|^2\right). \] The author proves the following theorem. If \(0<\alpha'<\alpha\leq \min (\frac {1}{\beta}-1,1)\) and \(\epsilon >0\), then there exists \(\phi\in \mathcal C^{2,\alpha'}(X)\) with \(||\phi||_{2,\alpha'}<\epsilon\) such that the Ricci form \(\omega_{\phi}=\omega+i\partial \bar \partial \phi\) extends to \(X\) as a \(2\)-form, which is smooth. In particular \(\omega_{\phi}\) has bounded Ricci curvature. As an application, an alternative proof of a well-known existence result for Kähler-Einstein metrics with cone singularities is given.
