    The authors consider the following problems for operator-differential equations: \[ \begin{gathered} Bu'(t)+ Au(t)= f(t),\quad t> 0,\\ u(0)= u_0,\end{gathered}\tag{1} \] \[ \begin{gathered} Du''(t)+ Bu'(t)+ Au(t)= f(t),\quad t> 0,\\ u(0)= u_0,\;u'(0)= u_1,\end{gathered}\tag{2} \] \[ \begin{gathered} u''(t)+ Bu'(t)+ Au(t)= 0,\quad t> 0,\\ u(0)= u_0,\;u'(0)= u_1,\end{gathered}\tag{3} \] in a Hilbert space. A number of a priori estimates for the solutions are derived which yield global and asymptotic stability results. For example, for (3), if \(A\) and \(B\) are unbounded, positive definite, selfadjoint, linear operators along with other assumptions, the asymptotic stability estimate \[ \| u'(t)\|^2+\| Bu(t)\|^2\leq c_1 2^{-1} e^{-\lambda t}(\| u_1\|^2+\| Bu_0\|^2) \] is derived, where \(\lambda\) is the minimum eigenvalue of the operator \(B- (B^2- 4A)^{{1\over 2}}\).
