The author is interested in the solution of saddle point problems for domain decomposition methods (DDM) (coupled linear systems) by means of the alternating oblique projection (AOP) method. The author proves that the AOP method is a preconditioned simple gradient (Uzawa) method for a particular preconditioner. He proposes a preconditioned conjugate gradient based version of the AOP. Numerical results are presented in the case of the solution of the Poisson equation by a DDM showing that the proposed approach can be valuable.
