They say that the solutions to a delay differential equation are generically oscillatory (nonoscillatory) if the set of all initial functions, for which the corresponding solution is nonoscillatory (oscillatory), is nowhere dense in the space of all piecewise continuous unctions. The authors obtain necessary and/or sufficient conditions for generic oscillation and nonoscillation of the following initial value problem \[ x''(t)+\sum_{j=1}^m q_jx'(t-\sigma_j)+\sum_{i=1}^n p_ix(t-\tau_i)=0, \quad t\geq t_0,\;t\neq t_k, \] \[ x(t_k^{+}) -x(t_k)=b_kx(t_k), \quad x'(t_k^{+})-x'(t_k)=b_kx'(t_k), \quad k=1,2,\dots, \] \[ x(t)=\varphi(t), \quad x'(t)=\psi(t), \quad t\in [t_0-r, t_0], \quad x'(t_0)=x_0 . \]
