Let \(k\) be a field of characteristic \(p>0\) and \(P\) a \(p\)-group. Denote by \(D(P)\) the group of equivalence classes of endo-permutation \(kP\)-modules, and by \(D^\Omega(P)\) the subgroup generated by relative syzygies \(\Omega_X\), where \(X\) is a finite \(P\)-set, and \(\Omega_X\) is the kernel of the augmentation map \(kX\to k\). Denote also by \(B(P)\) the Burnside group of \(P\), and by \(B^*(P)\) its dual group. The correspondences \(P\mapsto B(P)\) and \(P\mapsto B^*(P)\) are in fact functors from \({\mathcal C}_P\) to \({\mathcal A}b\), where \({\mathcal C}_P\) is the preadditive category of finite \(p\)-groups, with \(\text{Hom}_{{\mathcal C}_P}(P,Q)= B(Q\times P^{\text{ op}})\). In the main result of the paper the author shows that the formula for the tensor induction of relative syzygies established by him [\textit{S. Bouc}, J. Reine Angew. Math. 523, 113--171 (2000; Zbl 0954.20003)] can be regarded as a natural transformation \(B^*\to D^\Omega\). Using this, he proves that there is a short exact sequence of functors \(0\to R^*_\mathbb{Q}\to B^*\to D^\Omega/D^\Omega_{\text{ tors}} \to 0,\) where \(R^*_\mathbb{Q}\) is the dual of the functor \(R_\mathbb{Q}\:{\mathcal C}_P \to {\mathcal A}b\) sending \(P\) to its rational representations.
