Conjugate points on 2-step nilpotent groups (Q1971730)

Let \(N\) be a simply connected 2-step nilpotent Lie group with left invariant metric. In the paper under review the authors consider the characterizations of Jacobi fields and conjugate points along a geodesic \(\gamma\) with \(\gamma(0)=e\) (the identity element in \(N\)). If \(N\) has a one-dimensional center, a theorem of classification of all conjugate points is proved. Some applications are given.
