The famous Korteweg-de Vries equation (a useful example of the class of nonlinear differential equations) is solved numerically by the various new and efficient methods presented in this article. The author improves the classical approach by using a rule for solving the differential equation by quadrature and by B-splines. The B-splines are a highly useful approach to the approximation to functions and data by quasi-interpolation or otherwise. Therefore they render the method given in the paper fast and accurate. Another point of view is solving these differential equations by finite element methods which are also methods that carry out the needed quadrature by piecewise polynomials.
