This paper deals with a symplectic finite-difference scheme for a coupled nonlinear Schrödinger system. The proposed (nonlinear) finite-difference scheme conserves the total mass, as the Schrödinger system. The authors firstly prove the existence of a solution of the scheme by applying the fixed point theorem of Brouwer-type. Then, they establish stability and convergence results. Specifically, the \(L^2\) and \(L^\infty\) stability inequalities are derived, and second-order convergence in \(L^2\) is proved. The authors propose and analyze an iterative scheme to solve the difference scheme. The iterative scheme is shown to be converge if the time and space step-sizes satisfy a certain condition. Finally, the authors present numerical examples in order to confirm the efficiency of the scheme and the validity of the theoretical considerations.
