Let \(\Gamma = F \wr {\mathbb F}_n \) denote the wreath product of a finite group \(F\) with \({\mathbb F}_n \), the free group on \(n\) generators. The Baum-Connes assembly map \[ K_*(C_r^*\Gamma ) \longrightarrow K_*^\Gamma (\underline E \Gamma ) \] is an isomorphism by a fundamental result of \textit{N. Higson} and \textit{G. Kasparov} [Invent. Math. 144, No. 1, 23--74 (2001; Zbl 0988.19003)]. The author analyzes this isomorphism in great detail, displaying explicit generators for both groups and making the assembly map very concrete. This is made possible on the analytic side by an adroit use of the Pimsner-Voiculescu sequence and, on the topological side, by constructing a \(2\)-dimensional model for \(\underline E \Gamma \) and using the fact that the associated Atiyah-Hirzebruch and \textit{C. Martínez-Pérez} [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 176, No. 2--3, 161--173 (2002; Zbl 1017.18009)] spectral sequences must collapse at \(E_2\).
