Let \(X\subset \mathbb C^n\) and \(Y\subset \mathbb C^m\) be bounded domains. The authors assume that the boundaries of \(X\) and \(Y\) are smooth. The Poincaré distance between two points \(a,b\) in the unit disk \({\mathbb{D}}\) is denoted by \(\rho_{\mathbb{D}}(a,b)\). For a domain \(W\subset \mathbb C^N\) the Kobayashi (pseudo-)distance between \(p,q\in W\) is denoted by \(d_W(p,q)\). The main result of the paper is a generalized version of the Schwarz Lemma and says: Let \(X\subset \mathbb C^n\) be a bounded convex domain, \(Y\subseteq \mathbb C\), but \(Y\neq\mathbb C\), a simply connected domain, \(f(z,w)\) a non-constant holomorphic function in \(X\times Y\) with \(|f(z,w)|\leq 1\) and \(p=(u,a)\), \(q=(v,b)\in X\times Y\) such that \[ d_X(u,v)<d_Y(a,b). \] If \[ \rho_{\mathbb{D}}(f(p),f(q))=d_{X\times Y}(p,q), \] then \(f(z,w)=\phi (w)\), where \(\phi:Y\to {\mathbb{D}}\) is a conformal mapping. In this interesting paper the authors give two theorems and one example.
