A mapping between metric continua \(f:X \rightarrow Y\) is confluent if for each subcontinuum \(B\) of \(Y\) and each component \(C\) of \(f ^{-1} (B)\), we have \(f(C)=B\). Given a subclass \(\mathcal P\) of the set \(\mathcal N\) of all nondegenerate metric continua, we say \(X \in Cl_{\mathcal F} (\mathcal P)\) if for each positive number \(\varepsilon\), there are a continuum \(Y\) in \(\mathcal P\) and a confluent \(\varepsilon\)-mapping \(f:X \rightarrow Y\). This closure operator \(Cl_{\mathcal F}\) gives a topology on \(\mathcal N\). Taking different families of mappings (instead of confluent ones), it is possible to define other topologies on \(\mathcal N\). In [Topology Appl. 164, 1--13 (2014; Zbl 1288.54011)], the authors studied general properties of the operator \(Cl_{\mathcal M}\), where \(\mathcal M\) represents one of the classes: all mappings, confluent and monotone mappings. The aim of the paper under review is to study the interiors and closures of a number of families of continua under the topology induced by \(Cl_{\mathcal F}\). The authors consider the following families: arc Kelley continua, continua of dimension 1, cones over 0-dimensional sets, dendroids, dendrites, fans, graphs, hereditarily unicoherent continua, Kelley continua, Knaster type continua, locally connected continua, \(\lambda\)-dendroids, \(n\)-ods, smooth dendroids, smooth fans, solenoids, trees and tree-like continua. The paper contains a number of interesting relations and some open problems.
