Complexity of quantum impurity problems (Q2411633)

The authors study ground states and low energy states of quantum impurity models. Such models describe a bath of free fermions coupled to a small interacting subsystem called an impurity. The authors describe a classical algorithm for approximating the ground energy and for computing low energy states of quantum impurity models. It is discussed the worst-case computational complexity of this problem as a function of the system size and desired approximation error.
