In this paper, the author considers the second order Sturm-Liouville differential equation \[ [p(t)x^\Delta (t)]^\nabla +q(t)x(t)=0 \] on an unbounded time scale. By using the recessive solution of the equation, the author gives a characterization of domains of its Krein--von Neumann and Friedrichs extensions.
