In the present paper, the author establishes properties of semistable Higgs sheaves over compact Kähler manifolds, as for instance, the direct sum of two torsion-free Higgs sheaves is semistable if and only if both of them are semistable and have equal slopes. He proves that the determinant bundle \(\det \mathfrak{E}=(\det E,\eta)\) of a torsion-free Higgs sheaf \(\mathfrak{E}=(E,\phi)\) is a Higgs bundle and shows that any Hermitian metric on a regularization of a torsion-free Higgs sheaf \(\mathfrak{E}\) induces an admissible structure on \(\mathfrak{E}\). Also, two admissible structures on two torsion-free Higgs sheaves define admissible structures on the tensor product and the Whitney sum of them. For Part I of this paper see [ibid. 42, No. 3, 349--370 (2012; Zbl 1260.58006)].
