Let \(X\) be a Banach space. In this paper, the author studies various intersection properties that are related to weighted Chebyshev centers studied by \textit{L. VeselĂ˝} [Acta Math. Univ. Comen., New Ser. 66, No. 1, 83--115 (1997; Zbl 0922.41019)] and the notion of an ideal due to \textit{G. Godefroy} et al. [Stud. Math. 104, No. 1, 13--59 (1993; Zbl 0814.46012)]. By introducing the notion of an almost intersection property, it is shown that any ideal has this property and, when the space admits generalized centers, this notion is equivalent to the notion of a central subspace studied by \textit{P. Bandyopadhyay} and \textit{T. S. S. R. K. Rao} [J. Approx. Theory 103, No. 2, 206--222 (2000; Zbl 0965.46005)]. If \(Y \subset X\) is a semi-\(M\)-ideal and \(Y^{\bot\bot}\) has the almost intersection property in \(X^{\ast\ast}\), then it is an \(M\)-ideal. The author also gives several results on the stability of these properties under polyhedral sums and spaces of vector-valued continuous functions.
