On presentations of Brauer-type monoids. (Q2459661)

The authors obtain presentations for the so-called Brauer monoid, the partial Brauer monoid, and the greatest factorizable inverse submonoid of the dual symmetric inverse monoid. Each of these come about as certain natural subsemigroups of the so-called partition semigroup of a finite chain (explained in detail in the paper). In each case a presentation candidate is identified and the natural mapping from the presentation semigroup onto the target semigroup is shown to be a surjective morphism. That the mapping in question is indeed a bijection is verified by direct comparison of cardinalities.
