Let \(X,Y\) be Banach spaces, \(n\geq 3\), \(2\leq m\leq n-1\). The mapping \(f: X\to Y\) is called mixed \(n\)-dimensional quadratic iff it satisfies \[ _{n-2}C_{m-2}f\biggl(\sum_{j=1}^{n}x_j\biggr)+_{n-2}C_{m-1}\sum_{i=1}^{n}f(x_i)= \sum_{1\leq i_1<\cdots<i_m\leq n}f(x_{i_1}+\cdots +x_{i_m}) \] for all \(x_1,\ldots,x_n\in X\). The authors consider the stability of this equation for even mappings. It is assumed that the difference \(D_mf(x_1,\ldots,x_n)\) of the left and right hand sides of the equation is bounded by some control mapping \(\varphi:X^n\to [0,\infty)\) satisfying some additional conditions. It is proved that \(f\) can be approximated by a unique \(n\)-dimensional quadratic mapping. Various cases concerning the value of \(m\) are considered. The direct method, as well as the fixed point one are used in proofs. Analogous results are obtained also in Banach modules.
