Let \(K\) be a totally ordered field, \(T_2(K)\) the \(2\times 2\) upper triangular matrix algebra over \(K\), and \(1\) the \(2\times 2\) identity matrix. The authors study lattice orders on \(T_ 2(K)\). \textit{E.~C.~Weinberg} [Pac. J. Math 19, 561--571 (1966; Zbl 0145.27204)] and \textit{S.~A.~Steinberg} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 128, 1605--1612 (2000; Zbl 0944.06011)] proved that, up to isomorphism, there exists only one lattice order on a full \(2\times 2\) matrix algebra over \(K\) that makes it into a lattice algebra in which \(1\) is positive. The main result of the present paper is the classification of all such lattice orders on \(T_2(K)\). It is shown that, up to isomorphism or anti-isomorphism, there exist four different lattice orders on \(T_2(K)\) to make \(T_2(K)\) into a lattice algebra in which \(1\) is positive. Among them, three are Archimedean lattice orders. The situation however changes allowing non-positivity of \(1\). In this case the authors provide a simple general method to construct a new lattice order from a given one.
