Let \(a\) be an element of a finite group \(G\). Denote by \(a^G=\{a^g\mid g\in G\}\) the set of all conjugates of \(a\) in \(G\). In the paper under review the following main result is proved: Let \(G\) be a finite group and let \(a\) and \(b\) be elements of \(G\) such that \(C_G(a)=C_G(b)\). Then \(a^Gb^G=(ab)^G\) if and only if \([ab,G]=[a,G]=[b,G]\) and \([ab,G]\) is a normal subgroup of \(G\). Here \([a,G]=\{[a,g]\mid g\in G\}\).
