In this interesting paper, the author constructs the Moufang generalized octagons over a perfect field by means of the 52-dimensional representation of the Chevalley algebra of type \(F_4\) in even characteristic and its \(26\)-dimensional submodule. The author starts with this algebra, defines operators and special subspaces to finally obtain an explicit description of the representation of the Moufang octagons in \(25\)-dimensional projective space. This can be seen as the analogue of the description of the Moufang hexagons of type \(^3D_4\) as point and line sets of a 7-dimensional projective space containing the triality quadric and using an explicit form of triality.
