Simple Lie algebras over fields of characteristic two (Q2529817)

In the present paper a method is developed which uses a finite subset of a free abelian group to index the subspaces of which a simple Lie algebra over a field of characteristic two is the direct sum. The classification is given for Lie algebras (over a field of characteristic two) satisfying certain axioms, which are satisfied e.g. by Chevalley algebras of types \(A_n\) \((n\ge 2)\), \(D_n\) \((n\ge 4)\), \(E_6\), \(E_7\), \(E_8\) modulo their centers [\textit{C. Chevalley}, Tôhoku Math. J., II. Ser. 7, 14--66 (1955; Zbl 0066.01503)]. Finally the analogues of Dynkin diagrams are investigated.
