Die aus den im Titel genannten linear und homogen zusammengesetzten Funktionen \[ \begin{gathered} \varphi_n(x) = \text{sech }x\cdot\sqrt{n+\dfrac{1}{2}} \sum\limits_{k=0}^n\dfrac{(-1)^k}{(k!)^3}\dfrac{(n+k)!}{(n-k)!} \left(\dfrac{1}{2} +\dfrac{ix}{\pi}\right) \left(\dfrac{3}{2} +\dfrac{ix}{\pi}\right)\cdots \left(k-\dfrac{1}{2} +\dfrac{ix}{\pi}\right) \\ (n=0,1,2,\ldots) \end{gathered} \] bilden ein für das Intervall \((-\infty, \infty)\) normiertes Orthogonalsystem. Die Funktion \(\varphi_n(x)\) genügt der homogenen Integralgleichung erster Art \[ \int\limits_{-\infty}^{+\infty}\varphi_n(x) K_n(x,u)e^{iux}\, dx =0 \qquad (n=0,1,2,\ldots), \] deren Kern \[ K_n(x,u) = \left(\dfrac{2ix}{\pi} + \text{tgh}\dfrac{\pi u}{2}\right)^2 + (n^2+n+1)\text{sech}^2\dfrac{\pi u}{2} \] noch von \(n\) abhängig ist.
