The authors consider mathematical billiards inside a triangle. They rigorously prove that the long time behavior of trajectories can be associated with the geometric symmetry of the triangle itself. In particular, their results show great similarities between rational and irrational billiards. Applying their machinery the authors are able to prove a long-standing conjecture on non-periodic and not everywhere dense trajectories in this billiard system. The paper is well structured and the mathematical framework is presented rigorously. The abstract of the paper introduces in a compact way to the main concepts and results. The references in the bibliography are well chosen and some pioneering works in the field are included.
