Let \(\Gamma\) be a non-commutative free group on finitely many generators, \(\Omega\) be its boundary and \(C(\Omega)\) be the \(C^*\)-algebra of complex valued continuous functions on \(\Omega\). In Part I of this paper \textit{M.G. Kuhn} and \textit{T. Steger} [Isr. J. Math. 144, 317--341 (2004; Zbl 1062.22011)] proved that multiplicative representations are irreducible when considered as boundary representations, i.e. representations of the crossed product \(C^*\)-algebra \(\Gamma \ltimes_{\Gamma} C(\Omega)\), and some criteria are given to say exactly when two of them are equivalent. In the paper under review the authors give conditions that ensure the irreducibility of a boundary representation as a representation of \(\Gamma\). The presented criteria are based on general facts concerning boundary realizations (see \textit{M.G. Kuhn} and \textit{T. Steger} [J. Funct. Anal. 179, No. 1, 1--17 (2001; Zbl 0967.43003)]) and the computation of the growth of matrix coefficients.
