The Honda-Kazez-Matić conjecture says that if a compact oriented surface \(S\) with boundary is a holed torus then a non-destabilizable right-veering open book corresponds to a tight contact 3-manifold. An open book is a pair \((S, \Phi )\), where \(S\) is a surface as above and \(\Phi \) belongs to the group of orientation-preserving diffeomorphisms Map\((S,\partial s)\) of \(S\) that restrict to \(\partial S\) as the identity. The present author exhibits infinitely many overtwisted, right-veering, non-destabilizable open books which are four-holed spheres with the underlying 3-manifolds being lens spaces, in this way providing infinitely many counterexamples to the Honda-Kazez-Matić conjecture.
