    Let \(\mathfrak{a}\) denote an ideal of a commutative Noetherian ring \(R\). Let \(M\) be a finitely generated \(R\)-module. The finiteness dimension \(f_{\mathfrak{a}}(M) := \{i \in \mathbb{N} | H^i_{\mathfrak{a}}(M) \text{ is not finitely generated }\} \) and certain generalizations is the subject of the paper. In particular, Faltings' finiteness result [\textit{G. Faltings}, Math. Ann. 255, 45--56 (1981; Zbl 0451.13008)] says that \(f_{\mathfrak{a}}(M) = \inf \{f_{\mathfrak{a}R_{\mathfrak{p}}}(M_{\mathfrak{p}})| \mathfrak{p}\in \text{Supp}_R(M)\}\). In connection to the authors' work (see [Commun. Algebra, 43, 953--958 (2015)]) they prove a corresponding result for \(f_{\mathfrak{a}}^{\mathfrak{b}}(M) = \inf \{i \in \mathbb{N}| \mathfrak{b}\not\subseteq \text{Rad} \text{Ann}_R H^i_{\mathfrak{a}}(M)\}\) with several applications.
